  3. The "Installer 4.0.3 Templates" file is a set of templates for use with the Resorcerer© application from Mathesmaesthetics, Inc. This application is a utility for viewing and editing resource items ( and the data fork ) of a file.

For years many of us have used ResEdit to view and edit resource items. ResEdit has some limitations when working with Installer resource types such as rule clause ('inrl'), disk order ('indo'), rule framework ('infr'), etc. Most of the newer resource types used by Installer 4.0.3 are displayed by ResEdit in hexidecimal form. While this is fine for those of us who inherently think in hexidecimal, the rest of us may find it easier to work with resources that are displayed in a more recognizable format.

  7. The folks at Mathesmaesthetics, Inc. have done a wonderful job with Resorcerer©, and Rob "Lunatic" Moore has created an updated template for Installer 4.0.3 for use with the Resorcerer© application. [ Thanks Rob !!! ]

When using Resorcerer© to view your rezzed Installer Script, just click and double click your way through the resource items of your Installer Script. Most of the Installer resource items referenced from within other resource items can be viewed from within their "parent" resource item. To open a contained Installer resource item from within the "parent" resource item, just double click in the contained resource item while holding down the option key. If Resorcerer© was able to find a valid resource item of the specified type and ID, it will open the designated resource item in a seperate viewing window.

  11. NOTE: Some resource items may not be supported via option/double clicking.

FURTHER NOTE: Most often, if a double clicked item cannot be found, a "new" resource item will be opened in a window using the template for that resource type. If you accidentily open one of these windows with a "new" item, and you don't wish to create the new item, press either "Discard", "Cancel", or "Don't Save".
